Thanks to the support of Volunteer Florida and AmeriCorps, the Literacy Alliance will be launching the first adult literacy program in our community that leverages the skills, talents and time of national AmeriCorps members. We will be recruiting at least 10 AmeriCorps members who will help us expand adult literacy services in our community.

AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides opportunities for individuals to serve their communities in many different ways. Members serve for one year in exchange for a living stipend, health benefits, educational award, and valuable on-the-job experience. AmeriCorps members will be selected and managed by the Literacy Alliance, and spend a year addressing our mission, which is to increase literacy awareness and improve adult literacy in northeast Florida.

Did you know, 1 in 5 adults in Duval County are at the lowest literacy levels and have considerable difficulty comprehending print material?

How can you help? We are recruiting individuals who are passionate about education, helping others, and making an impact in North Florida. The job duties range from teaching small group classes (reading, math and language), GED prep, tutoring 1:1, event production or assistance, student registration and testing, program administration, and more!

We are actively recruiting now.  Members will begin their year of service in August or September.  If you or someone you know is interested in applying or learning more about becoming an AmeriCorps member with the Literacy Alliance please visit our position posting at https://serviceyear.org.
